3rd Battalion 6th Marine
McCoy's Marines: Darkside to Baghdad A firsthand account of the early Iraq war is told by an embedded reporter with the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, led by Lt. Col. Bryan P. McCoy (radio call sign: Darkside).
God Saw Them Through: Semper FI--"America's Battalion" in Iraq Author Glenn Thomas, the father of a young Marine who served with the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines (2/8) during Operation Iraqi Freedom. During the lead-up and combat phases of the war, his son, his family, and numerous other believers within 2/8 and their families experienced the incredible leading of God in prayer, and the Marines of 2/8 experienced the supernatural protection of God in the battles. The manuscript was carefully researched and written. Over forty interviews were conducted with the various Marines and family members involved. One amazing fact is that every officer of the battalion gave credit to God for having protected them through divine intervention. Despite being at the center of some of the heaviest fighting of the war, not one Marine from 2/8 was killed or missing in action, and every one of the forty wounded remained on active duty. Forward written by Marine General (four-star) Carleton W. Fulford, former commander of U.S. forces in NATO.
